business need. Soon, the application
would become business-critical and need to be enhanced.
Return Material Authorization (RMA) Database - This application was written for a manufacturing firm to handle suspected defective widgets.
- There are a set of screens that allow customer service reps to enter customer and widget information.
- Another set of screens provide an interface for the manufacturing support people to enter the results of their defect analysis.
- The application's reports allow management to view defects-per-million, root causes and other metrics.
RV Park Reservation System (VB6 Remediation) - Initially written by another developer, this VB6 application was modified to use SQL Server as its database instead of Microsoft Access.
- Professional coding standards were implemented.
- Code and controls were updated to allow Win7 compatibility.
- Data access method was updated.
Dam Database - This NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation database was written to help ENCON keep track of the inspections of the 8,000+ dams in New York State.
Certification Database - This manufacturing system provided an easy way for the employees to test each widget made to ensure it is within spec before being shipped to the customer. The results of each test is kept in a database, and a document is included with the part certifying the test results.
